Chapter6 end and start — Video 12

Lin Yue's house was once a warm haven, inhabited by people from different countries with diverse backgrounds. Mr. White, Susan, Andrew, Danny, and Lester all lived here. Each of them had their own story, but fate had brought them together under this roof.

Mr. White was the former owner of the house. He was a man who loved nature deeply. His late wife had also cherished the countryside, and they had owned a small cottage in the country, surrounded by vast fields and dense woods. However, after his wife passed away, Mr. White found urban life empty and lonely. The hustle and bustle of the streets, the crowdedness of the people, and the coldness of the high-rise buildings made him long for the tranquility of the countryside even more. One day, he decided to leave the city and return to the countryside. He sold his large urban house and, carrying his wife's wishes and his own dreams for the future, embarked on a journey back to the countryside.

When he returned to his rural cottage, he found it in disrepair. The roof leaked, the walls were peeling, and the doors and windows were on the verge of collapse. Mr. White realized that he needed to rebuild the house to truly return to the life he longed for. He hired construction workers to start the renovation. The process was not easy and would take about two years. Therefore, when Mr. White sold the house to Lin Yue, he reduced the price by 20% but requested to continue living there for a while.

After her wedding, Susan moved into a new house with her husband. On the day Susan left this house, Mr. White, Andrew, Lester, and Danny all came to see her off. Susan smiled and hugged each person, tears welling up in her eyes. She whispered, "I'll miss this place and all of you." Lin Yue watched Susan's retreating figure, feeling a pang of loss. She knew that the happy times in this house would no longer include Susan.

Not long after Susan moved out, Andrew also left to live with his girlfriend. He and his girlfriend had been dating for a while and decided to move in together. On the day Andrew left, Lester and Danny came to see him off. Andrew smiled and shook hands with everyone, his eyes filled with reluctance. "I'll miss this place," Andrew said softly. "But I hope you all continue to be happy here." Lester nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. He liked Andrew, and despite their need for translation apps to communicate, he considered Andrew a good friend and was grateful for the friendship and comfort he had offered.

A few months after Andrew left, Danny decided to leave the city due to a job change. He had found a new job in another city. On the day Danny left, Lester was the only one to see him off. Danny smiled and hugged Lester, tears in his eyes. "Lester, thank you for all your support," Danny said. "I'll miss this place and you." Lester nodded, feeling a sense of loneliness and emptiness.

With Susan, Andrew, and Danny gone, the once warm and lively house was now left with only Lester. The laughter and joy of the past could only echo in his memories. Lester still went for walks in the garden every day, tried new recipes in the kitchen, and decorated the living room with cozy items. But everything felt empty without the presence of his friends.

Lester often sat on the sofa in the living room, looking out at the garden, feeling lonely and desolate. He remembered Susan's laughter, Andrew's humor, and Danny's warmth. These memories were like beams of sunlight, illuminating his solitude.

One day, while Lester was tidying up the living room, he found an old photo. It was a picture of the four of them in the garden, all smiling happily. Lester looked at the photo, tears in his eyes. He whispered, "You're all gone, and I'm left here alone."
