Chapter4 Warmth and Growth — Video 08

Danny is 34 years old and serves as the Chief Financial Officer at PolyStar Company. He has the typical Nordic features: tall stature, fair skin, and a head of blonde hair. His eyes are deep and calm, as if he can see through everything in the world. Despite his busy schedule and immense work pressure, he is very kind-hearted and even a bit shy. Two years ago, he moved into Lin Yue's house, and since then, his life has become closely connected with the people living there.

When he first moved in, Danny was very quiet and reserved. He would always stay in his room alone and rarely interact with others. Lin Yue had tried to talk to him several times, but he would only respond politely with a few words before falling silent again. Sometimes, Lin Yue would even forget that he was living in the same house. She thought perhaps Danny just needed some time to adapt to the new environment.

Everything began to change when Susan moved in. Susan is an enthusiastic, cheerful, and optimistic girl. Her warmth is like a ray of sunshine that brightens everyone's heart, including Danny's. She would help everyone tidy up their rooms, wash clothes and quilts, and so on, and she never cared about others' attitudes, always responding to everyone with a smile.

Danny first noticed Susan on a sunny afternoon. Susan was planting flowers in the garden, and her laughter was clear and pleasant. Danny stood by the window, watching her busy figure, and a sense of warmth welled up in his heart. He had never imagined that he would feel so different because of the arrival of a stranger.

However, at first, Danny was suspicious of Susan's approach. He thought Susan might have an ulterior motive, perhaps trying to get close to him for some benefit. This suspicion made him keep a distance from Susan and only respond reluctantly when she greeted him. But as time went by, Danny gradually realized that his thoughts might be wrong. Susan's enthusiasm never diminished because of others' indifference. She was always ready to help others, optimistic about life, and faced everything with a positive attitude. Danny began to realize that Susan's kindness and warmth came from the heart and were not for any purpose.

One day, Danny worked overtime until very late, and by the time he got home, he was exhausted. Susan was in the living room preparing dinner and greeted him with a smile, "Danny, you're back! Dinner will be ready soon." However, Danny's emotions were already at the breaking point. He suddenly shouted, "Leave me alone! I'm already tired today. I don't need you nagging at me here!" Susan was stunned. A flash of hurt crossed her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure. She said softly, "Danny, I know you're tired, but please don't take your temper out on me. I just wanted to offer you a hot meal." Danny saw the look in Susan's eyes and was immediately filled with guilt. He realized his mistake, but it was already too late to take back his words. He took a deep breath, tried to calm himself down, and then said in a low voice, "Susan, I'm sorry. I was under too much pressure today. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you."

Susan smiled faintly and said, "It's okay, Danny. I know you're under a lot of pressure. I won't blame you. Come on, take off your coat first and sit down to rest." Danny sat on the sofa, and Susan handed him a cup of hot tea. He took the tea, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. He knew that Susan's tolerance and understanding were his most precious treasures.

From then on, Danny made greater efforts to control his emotions. He realized that Susan's kindness and tolerance were her finest qualities, and he couldn't let his bad temper hurt her. Whenever he felt too much pressure, he would remind himself to stay calm and cherish the people around him.

Despite sometimes losing control of his emotions due to work pressure, Danny is very kind-hearted and even a bit shy. He always helps Susan quietly, especially when she is in the most difficult times. Susan came to Northern Europe to study with the support of the government. Under the pressure of the high cost of living in Northern Europe, Susan often spends more than she earns. Susan is very worried and cries every day. Danny sees Susan's sadness and feels very uneasy. He knows that Susan needs not only comfort but also practical support. So, Danny took the initiative to help Susan and transferred money to her so that she could study and live in peace. Susan was very grateful when she saw Danny's actions. She said softly, "Danny, thank you." Danny smiled shyly and said, "Susan, you are my friend, I should help you. You don't need to thank me." When Susan was in the most difficult time, Danny's kindness and gentleness made her feel warm. She knows that although Danny sometimes loses control of his emotions, he is a very kind person in his heart. As time went by, Danny gradually understood Susan's true character. Because of her family environment in her childhood, Susan always felt that she was not good enough and lacked confidence. She is easily moved and will remember in her heart for a long time the little kindness others show to her.

Once, Danny gave Susan a book that she had always wanted. Susan took the book, tears in her eyes, and said softly, "Danny, this means a lot to me." Danny smiled and said, "Susan, you don't need to thank me. I just want you to know that you deserve care and love." Susan held Danny's hand tightly, tears in her eyes, "Danny, you are so kind. I have never met anyone like you." Danny looked at Susan and couldn't help but kiss her. Susan was stunned at first, but then she responded to Danny with all her passion. After spending some time together, Danny realized that behind Susan's kindness and enthusiasm lay deep insecurity and a longing for love. Every time she was moved, it was because of her deep desire for warmth. Susan said she had nothing but a positive attitude towards life.

Time flew by, and soon Susan's visa was about to expire. She had to get married to continue living in Northern Europe. So she was going to marry a Northern European man she had just met two months ago. Before that, she tried to ask Danny if he would be with her, but Danny refused her. She was very sad, but she said she understood Danny. During the wedding preparation, Danny also actively participated. He helped Susan with some trivial matters and even served as the best man on the wedding day. At the wedding, Susan looked beautiful in her white wedding dress. Danny stood beside her, feeling both happy for her and a little sad.

However, not long after the wedding, Susan and her husband encountered a tricky problem. Susan's husband, without a job or income, was unable to apply for Susan's residence permit. This put them in a difficult situation, and Susan was very anxious, not knowing what to do. Danny, upon learning of this, struggled with his thoughts for a long time. He knew that Susan and her husband were under immense pressure, and he had the means to help them. After much deliberation, Danny decided to lend a helping hand.

He approached Susan and softly said, "Susan, I know you're facing a tough situation now. I have some savings that might be able to help you and your husband out of this predicament."

Susan's eyes widened in surprise, quickly followed by deep gratitude. She whispered, "Danny, are you really willing to help us? That's wonderful. I don't know how to thank you enough."

Danny smiled shyly and replied, "Susan, you're my friend, and it's only right that I help you. There's no need to thank me. I just hope you can get through this smoothly."

Susan clutched Danny's hand tightly, tears brimming in her eyes, "Danny, you're truly amazing. I'll never forget your kindness." Danny responded, "You've always brought sunshine and brightness into my life. In the long and cold Northern European winters, I've never felt lonely or isolated because of you." Susan couldn't hold back her tears and said, "I have nothing but my enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards life."
